After 74 years Eastern Suburbs rugby league club no longer has sole possession of the record for the longest unbeaten streak in Australia.  Last night Brisbane Roar joined them as co-holders of that title.  But it was a result that came in tough fashion for the A-League's reigning champions.

It was no walk in the park for Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium last night, but the reigning champions notched their stretched their unbeaten run to 31 games with victory over arch rivals Gold Coast United.  Forced to work hard by the visitors, Roar weathered a first half storm before running over the top of their opponents to post a 3:0 win.

February 12 2011 is a date that is going to live long in the memory of Brisbane Roar fans.

It was the day Suncorp Stadium re-opened it's doors after being inundated during the floods.

It was the day the club paid homage to Brisbane's flood victims, volunteers and emergency workers.

Japan won it's fourth Asian Cup overnight with a hard fought win over Australia.  It took a stunning strike late in extra time for the Japanese to claim the title, with Australia guilty of a defensive lapse to leave Tadanari Lee unmarked in the box to smash home an emphatic winner.
