Adelaide media has reported Adelaide United owner Greg Griffin entering the fray and calling for change. Griffin has called for change in the governance of the A-League with clubs having a much greater say. While distancing himself from Palmer's comments he has called it a catalyst for change and insisted the FFA must be involved in change.
The article lists an alliance of the following clubs as being at the heart of the move against the FFA.
- Gold Coast United
- Newcastle Jets
- Adelaide United
- Melbourne Victory
- Melbourne Heart
Interestingly the article states that the FFA has already broached the subject of a joint administration with clubs but apparently two unnamed clubs do not want the FFA involved. I'm sorry but while the FFA continues to invest in the league then they also must have some say into it's running.
Worryingly rumblings of renegade or breakaway leagues keep getting mentioned. This would be a ridiculous situation that would result in clubs being barred from competitions by FIFA and the AFC as well as players being barred from international teams by FIFA.
